The international story of Mark and Juliana crosses France, Germany, Monaco, and Africa and brought them to Christ Church, just outside of Augusta Georgia.  At the reception guests feasted on low country boil and the first dance got almost everyone onto the floor in a big square-dance.

In the days leading up to the wedding I hung out with Mark and Juliana and their families photographing the children and grandchildren as they prepaired.  One day we all went to a field of wildflowers and I photographed as they picked and pruned.  It was idealic and thoroughly enjoyable.

Will and Carolina were married on the beach in front of The National Hotel. South Beach is Carolina’s home town and the party was a week long affair hopping between hotels and apartments until it crescendo in a beach ceremony at The National Hotel Miami.

Anna and Keith had a beautiful wedding at a nursery in Miami Beach.  A cozy group of family and friends gathered under the arbor as Anna and Keith took their vows.

The wedding concluded with a nice meal and and a little dancing at a beachfront restaurant.

David Degner assisted Jonathan Scott with a wedding at the Woodfield Country Club of Boca Raton. Jonathan is a master at moving through the family portraits and efficiently making all the traditional photographs from the ceremony and celebrations.

The Woodfield Country Club was an ideal venue for an outdoor wedding and ballroom celebration. The sprawling lawn looks out on a verdant golf course but the ceremony was never interrupted by other visitors.

Jenni and Mike have a storied history that started with a chance meeting on a cruise. Then borders gaurds and jobs kept forced them into a long distance relationship. But the final hurdle was a surprise. After planning a dream wedding in Cancun swine flu forced them to rescheduled their wedding in Fort Lauderdale.

The day started with preperations at the Harbor Beach Marriot Resort and Spa, and ended with a ceremony on the beach. Jenni and Mike were classic extroverts which made it easy to pose some whimsical portraits before the ceremony.

Troy and Maribeth were married at a beautiful ocean-side estate on Tavernier Key, just south of Key Largo. Wedding Coordinator Michelle De La Torre did a fantastic job keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day.

Her name has been circulating in certain circles. Her retail locations are around the globe. Now Ivonne De La Vega has a new showroom on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale.

This Cuban-American, thirty-something designer has dressed them all…debutantes, mothers-of-the-brides/grooms, socialites, political figures, and celebrities. Most recently, she was commissioned by the Flagler-Matthews family to design the wedding gown for Henry Flagler’s great granddaughter Kelly Matthews.

As she says, her philosophy “is not to re-invent the wheel, only to give it a younger, newer spin.

The traditional wedding was spiced up pieces other cultures.  The afternoon started with a ceremonial “buying” of the bride.  The price was a song. The Mayfair Hotel felt like an outdoor venue with huge skylights and bamboo and leaves growing out of every corner. As the ceremony started we could hear the patter of rain on the roof but remained dry and serene. The party started early and lasted into the night and included the groom break-dancing with the groomsmen. The bright and airy Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Miami Florida made an ideal venue for the ceremony. 

Lauren and Mark’s wedding was photographed by Edward Linsmier at the beautiful mansion of the Director of the Miami City Ballet, Edward Villella in Miami Beach. It would be a challenging venue to book but it is one of our favorites.

Glenview Mansion made a scenic setting for the Scottish themed wedding. The a pillared, neoclassical, 19th century home, is an ideal venue nestled in the Rockville Civic Center Park.

This wedding was special for us to photograph because the bride wanted the pictures taken on black and white film to give it a more traditional look. I used a Leica M6 and Neopan 400 film.

Back in the lab it took another 100+ hours of post processing and printing on fiber based paper to get the final product. In the end the bride had a very unique wedding album of gorgeous archival prints, and the scanned hand-toned digital files to send to family and friends.

Black and white photography gives unique images but it also creates truly archival images that many future generations will be able to look at. There is an odd paradox with photo technology that the newer technologies have shorter lifespans.
